Hampshire defeated Surrey by 5 wickets with four balls to spare in the opening match of the Friends Life T20 2013 at The Rose Bowl in Southampton. It was a low scoring game with Surrey batting first after winning the toss managing only 139 for 6 in 20 overs.

Hampshire defeated Surrey by 5 wickets with four balls to spare in the opening match of the Friends Life T20 2013 at The Rose Bowl in Southampton. It was a low scoring game with Surrey batting first after winning the toss managing only 139 for 6 in 20 overs.

The top scorer for Surrey was Wicket Keeper Gary Wilson with a 25-ball 29. For Hampshire, David Griffiths and Danny Briggs took two wickets each.

Hampshire got to the target of 140 quite comfortably with opener Michael Carberry scoring a 45-ball 60. Carberry got the Man of the Match award for his knock. Skipper Neil McKenzie finished the match with an unbeaten 37 from 30 balls. For Surrey, South African Zander de Bruyn’s 3 for 14 went in vain.
