Former India pacer Laxmipathy Balaji has announced his retirement from domestic cricket at the age of 34. During a short international career, Balaji represented India in 8 Tests and 30 ODIs, claiming 27 and 34 wickets respectively. His best bowling effort in a Test came against Pakistan at Mohali in 2005, when he finished with match figures of 9 for 171. In ODIs, his best performance was 4 for 48 against Australia at Brisbane in January 2004. Overall, Balaji played 106 first-class matches, picking up 330 wickets.
