In a big blow to Sri Lanka, all-rounder Angelo Mathews has been ruled out of the ongoing Asia Cup 2012 with a calf injury! Mathews who is with the squad in Bangladesh has been forced to fly back home with the injury. No replacement has been named yet by Sri Lanka.
The 24-year-old talented all-rounder had missed the Three Finals of the CB Series in Australia because of the calf injury. He now returns home with the hope of getting fit just on time for the Test Series against England.
Sri Lanka seem to have two more injured players in its Asia Cup Squad. Yesterday Lasith Malinga was missing in the playing XI. Although the reason for his exclusion wasn’t known yesterday, today it’s learnt that the slinging fast bowler too is suffering from an injury. The other player who might be suffering from an injury is Thisara Perera from a back spasm although he has been resting it since more than 10 days.
The Sri Lankan team management could call in for replacements to cover up for the three players.
