Mumbai Indians collected a huge win by 58 runs against table toppers Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Wankhede Stadium tonight. It was the biggest test for the likes of Gayle and others as they were asked to chase a massive target of 195 on a pitch that was good for batting. However, Gayle and three other big guns of the RCB flopped and with that the contest was heavily one-sided.

The hosts batting first got a good start from Sachin Tendulkar who scored a cameo of 23 from 13 balls. His opening partner Dwayne Smith continued his good form to score a well struck 50 from 36 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes to take Mumbai Indians to 97 for 2 in 10.1 overs.

Dinesh Karthik with 43 from 33 balls and Kieron Pollard with 34 from 16 balls (with 2 fours and 3 sixes) helped the Mumbai Indians to finish with 194 for 7. RCB lost both Dilshan and Gayle early with the score at 37 for 2 in 6.5 overs. Gayle who scored 18 from 20 balls was caught brilliantly at deep mid wicket by AT Rayudu who held his momentum just infront of the boundary rope to hold onto a slog sweep off Harbhajan Singh.

Dhawal Kulkarni playing his first game bowled a superb spell to destruct RCB with 3 for 19 in 4 overs. Kulkarni got the ball to zip away off the seam to get rid of Kohli and Ab de Villiers apart from the wicket of Dilshan. The match was as good as over when de Villiers departed with RCB at 43 for 4 in the 8th over. Despite losing a few more wickets, RCB managed to prolong the game and end up with 136 for 7 in 20 overs.
