A breathtaking catch from Chris Lynn at deep mid wicket helped Kolkata Knight Riders pull off a stunning victory by 2 runs over Royal Challengers Bangalore. The Australian’s catch made all the difference between what could have been a winning six and a crucial wicket of AB de Villiers with the RCB at that stage needing six runs to win from three balls.

Until Chris Lynch took the backward diving catch, RCB were well set to wrap up the run chase with 9 runs to win from the last over to be bowled by medium pacer R Vinay Kumar. RCB had AB de Villiers and Albie Morkel at the crease and yet fell short of the target following the dismissal of AB de Villiers in the fourth ball.

RCB asked to chase 151 got off to a perfect start with newcomer Yogesh Takawale scoring an impressive 40 from 28 balls with 8 fours. KKR got back into the game when it removed RCB openers in the space of three balls. A solid partnership of 55 between Skipper Virat Kohli (31 from 23 balls) and Yuvraj Singh (31 from 34 balls) steadied the ship again for RCB.

Yuvraj Singh failed to finish the match having conceded too many balls. Sunil Narine dominated him completely to record figures of 4-0-17-1. Vinay Kumar and Jacques Kallis did a great job too with their economy rates of less than 7.00.

Earlier, Chris Lynn played a superb knock of 45 from 31 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes to take KKR to a healthy total. Jacques Kallis contributed 43 from 42 balls. Towards the end, Robin Uthappa with 22 from 18 balls and Suryakumar Yadav with 24* from 18 balls played crucial cameos. For RCB, Varun Aaron had a great day taking 3 for 16 in his four overs.

Toss and Teams: Royal Challengers Bangalore have won the toss and asked Kolkata Knight Riders to bat first in Match 11 of IPL 7 at Sharjah. RCB have made two changes with Muralitharan and Yogesh Takawale coming in for Nic Maddinson and Sachin Rana respectively. KKR have made two changes as well with Umesh Yadav and Chris Lynn replacing Piyush Chawla and Shakib Al Hasan.
