Dav Whatmore replaces Mohsin Khan as Pakistan Coach

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced that Dav Whatmore as the Head Coach and Julien Fountain as the Fielding Coach of the Pakistan Cricket team.

Australian Dav Whatmore has signed up as the new Coach of the Pakistani Cricket Team. Whatmore has been given a two-year contract by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and he takes over from Mohsin Khan. Whatmore’s first assignment as the Pakistan Coach will be this month’s Asia Cup 2012.

The 57-year-old Dav Whatmore has played 7 Tests and 1 ODI for Australia in the late 70s. He has been a popular Coach in International Cricket all these years.

Whatmore’s biggest achievement till date was being the Coach of the Sri Lankan team that clinched the 1996 World Cup! Since then Whatmore had taken the difficult job of being the Coach of the Bangladesh team from 2003 to 2007. In the IPL, he has been the Coach of the Kolkata Knight Riders between 2009 and early 2012.

The PCB has also given a contract to Englishman Julien Fountain to take over as the Fielding Coach of the Pakistani team. The 41-year-old Fountain previously was the fielding coach of England, Pakistan, West Indies and Bangladesh though he never played any first class cricket.
