Cricket World Cup 2015, 6th Match, Pool A New Zealand vs Scotland: Blackcaps have defeated Scotland cricket team by 3 wickets and 25.1 overs left in their innings.

New Zealand make it through in the end, but you can hardly call this one a convincing victory, as they pull through by three wickets. Scotland did remarkably well to keep this chase interesting, despite the lower than par score they had fronted initially. Can't really speak of any specific New Zealand batsmen who stood out, other than Kane who top-scored with 38. Scottish bowlers Iain Wardlaw and John Davey were the picking up three wickets.

Scotland: 142/10(36.2 ov)

New Zealand: 146/7(24.5 ov)

Result: New Zealand won by 3 wickets - Scorecard

Brendon McCullum: Credit to them to posting a good total that was tricky on this kind of surface. Pleased with the result in the end, but we definitely showed nerves towards the end. We will take the result, and points from the game. They are world-class bowlers Tim Southee (2 for 35) and Trent Boult (2 for 21), and they have stood up for a long time in Test cricket for us. Really good performance with the ball and in the field, but we need to improve on our batting. It should be a great challenge when we play the next one as the surfaces and conditions will also change.

Preston Mommsen: Tough start for us as we were unfortunate to lose a few early ones, but credit to Machan and Richie for batting through that difficult period. It showed that when we put the ball in the right areas we got our rewards. We are very proud of the fight we put up and the character these boys have shown. We are not shy of the fact that we are a very inexperienced team in World Cups. Glad to get this first one out of the way, and now we are ready for England.

The Man of the Match is Trent Boult for his 2 for 21 in six overs. Trent Boult says I thought the ball came out relatively nicely, plus the wicket assisted a bit too. Everyone contributed and we got the job done in the end.
