Australia are under pressure in the Barbados Test as they finished Day 3 at 248 for 5 in 95 overs. The visitors are trailing behind by 201 runs and would need the pair of Michael Hussey (47* from 156 balls) and Wicket Keeper Matthew Wade (19* from 53 balls with 2 fours) to bat for a significant time on the fourth day morning to defy the West Indians in this 1st Digicel Test at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown. The Aussies will have to bat out time on Day 4 so that the Test ends in a stalemate.
The visitors resumed Day 3 at 44 for 0 in reply to West Indies’ 449 for 9 declared. The morning session saw the Aussies under pressure at 84 for 3 with the openers and Ricky Ponting departing. Opener David Warner scored a good looking 42 (from 55 balls with 5 fours) before he got out to Darren Sammy who also had removed Ed Cowan.
Shane Watson with 39 (from 80 balls with 5 fours and a six) steadied the ship for sometime with Skipper Michael Clarke to see through the morning session. However, Kemar Roach removed Watson after lunch to put Australia back in trouble at 133 for 4. Skipper Clarke scored a crucial 73 (from 173 balls with 4 fours and a six) to rescue his side along with Michael Hussey who remained unbeaten by stumps. Clarke got out at the wrong time when he tried to go for a needless big hit off leg spinner Devendra Bishoo.
