India pulled off a tremendous victory by 6 wickets in the Mohali Test despite the entire opening day’s play washed out. Needing 133 to win in about 33 overs, India got to the target steadily in the last hour.

Australia are in the danger of losing the Third Test at Mohali after losing three top order wickets in 21 overs before stumps on Day 4. The visitors were jolted by Bhuvneshwar Kumar who used both conventional and reverse swing to take all the three wickets to fall to give India hopes of a victory.
Australia’s number nine batsman Mitchell Starc played a brilliant innings before being out for 99, caught by MS Dhoni off Ishant Sharma’s bowling. Starc batted for 144 minutes and hit 14 boundaries during his vigil at the crease that frustrated the Indian bowlers.
When Ravindra Jadeja was initially selected in the Test squad for the series against England, it was on the back of two big triple hundreds in domestic cricket. As such, he was expected to do a competent job for the Indian team lower down the order with the bat.
India bowled out as many as 104 overs in six and a half hours to restrict the Aussies to 273 for 7. This was despite the tourists getting a strong opening stand of 139! It was a dramatic collapse for the Aussies – losing two wickets in two balls on two occasions in the day’s play. The match is now nicely in the favour of an Indian victory although the first day’s play was completely washed out.
