Batting first after winning the toss, Bangladesh led by Shakib Al Hasan's 58 from 51 balls could get to 228 before getting bowled out. Opening bowler Kyle Mills picked up three wickets or the visitors.

New Zealand in their chase were down at 85 for 4 in 15 overs before rain interrupted to wash out 13 overs. The target was revised to 210 from 37 overs and the Kiwis finished at 200 for 8. This defeat was despite a blinder from Wicket Keeper-Opener Brendon McCullum who scored 61 from 45 balls. In the middle order, the Kiwis' hopes wrested on Ross Taylor who made 42 before getting lbw to off spinner Naeem Islam. Shakib Al Hasan was the hero with the ball as well taking 4 for 41 in 8 overs to get the Man of the Match.
