Afridi-XI lost the match against New Zealand by 110 runs while they defeated Zimbabwe and Australia by 7 wickets and 4 wickets respectively in their fifth and sixth league match. Pakistan got the easy 10 wicket victory over West Indies in the 1st quarterfinal of the World Cup.

India is on the other hand got the 2nd position in group-B after playing the pool matches round. Blue shirts started their World Cup journey with 83 runs victory over Bangladesh. They tied their second group game against England. In the third and fourth league match, they win the matches against Ireland and Netherlands by 5 and 6 wickets respectively. Dhoni-XI lost the game against South Africa by 3 wickets while they defeated West Indies by 80 runs. India ended the campaign of defeating champion Australia by got 5 wicket victory over them in the 2nd quarterfinal of the mega event.

So far, 119 matches have been played between Pakistan and India, and green shirts are leading the victories with 69-46 while four matches ended without any result. Blue shirts have a 4-0 head-to-head record against Pakistan in World Cup matches.
