Young Virat Kohli is in the danger of losing half of his match fees after getting caught gesturing to a section of the Australian crowd in an obscene manner.

Young Virat Kohli is in the danger of losing half of his match fees after getting caught gesturing to a section of the Australian crowd in an obscene manner. The incident happened today at the Sydney Cricket Ground when the youngster was provoked by some hostile comments on his mother and sister by a few spectators according to the cricketer himself. Kohli was caught on camera showing the middle finger to them following the provocation.

While there is no doubt that Kohli was abused by the crowd, he still had to restrain himself from reacting the way he did as the ICC strictly disallows any such behavior from its cricketers. Kohli being an ambassador of cricket and also his country faces a 50% penalty of his match fees or one-test ban. Kohli has a past of being too aggressive and reactive as seen in one of the youtube videos when he had returned abuses to a spectator in an IPL match.

Virat Kohli has defended his act through the following tweet : “i agree cricketers dont have to retaliate. what when the crowd says the worst things about your mother and sister. the worst ive heard”.

It was a tough day on the park for the Indians as they were smashed all around the park by Michael Clarke along with Ponting and Hussey. Three Indian bowlers – Ishant Sharma, R Ashwin and Zaheer Khan got satirical loud cheers from the Australian spectators after each of them went onto concede a century with the ball.
