South Africa had to settle for a 10-wicket win in the Third and Final Test at Newlands in Cape Town. The hosts had to bat again in their second innings chasing a target of 2 which was done without a single legal delivery bowled with Dhammika Prasad coming up with a noball. SA had to come out in their second innings for just the two runs because of a valiant century from Thilan Samaraweera who remained unbeaten on 115 (from 215 balls with 14 fours).

Thilan SamaraweeraSamaraweera had offered a stiff resistance to the Proteas today with a 142-run stand for the 5th wicket with Angelo Mathews who scored 63 (from 124 balls with 7 fours). South Africa took 107.5 overs to bowl out Sri Lanka for 342 in their second innings. For the Proteas, Philander, leggie Imran Tahir and Jacques Kallis picked up three wickets each.

The Man of the Match award went to Jacques Kallis who had set up the South African victory with a special knock of 224. AB de Villiers who scored 160 in the first innings was named as the Player of the Series. South Africa have won this 3-Test Series 2-1.
