The rain again played spoilsport on day two of the third and final Test between Sri Lanka and the West Indies in Pallekele with a little over a session's worth of play possible.

The West Indies managed to advance their score from 134 for two to 244 for five as Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Brendan Nash joined Darren Bravo and Devon Smith in making half-centuries.

Bravo added just five runs to his overnight score before he was trapped in front by Dilhara Fernando having faced 117 balls and hit ten fours before Chanderpaul and Nash added 99 for the fourth wicket.

Chanderpaul saw off 145 deliveries in making 54 before he was caught by wicket-keeper Prasanna Jayawardene off Ajantha Mendis.

Jayawardene then moved quickly and smartly to stump Dwayne Bravo for a duck off the bowling of left-arm spinner Rangana Herath.

At the other end, Nash compiled 62 not out in 110 balls and Carlton Baugh was unbeaten but yet to score when a close was called far earlier than scheduled due to rain and bad light.

The first two Tests, also badly hit by the weather, were both drawn in Galle and Colombo respectively. Smith, recalled to the West Indian side in place of Adrian Barath, made 55 on the opening day after the tourists lost Chris Gayle to the first ball of the match.
