Canada is still trying its level best to secure the visa for 03 of its players. Earliest Ranjit Saini, the President of Cricket Canada requested the ICC to step in and resolve the matter with Indian authorities. There has been a delay by the Indian authorities in granting the visa to 03 Canadian players – Hamza Tariq, Khurram Chohan and Rizwan Cheema. Rizwan Cheema is the Vice Captain of Canada team for the ICC Cricket World Cup.

In his letter to Sharad Pawar, the ICC President, Saini requested his kind attention to this matter. Canada had made a visit to India last year and the visas were applied back then. All the visas were cleared but these three players were not granted a visa. The team came to India without these three.

The Canadian team has already left for a training camp in Dubai where they will play Afghanistan and Ireland before heading to India. We hope that the three players get the visa as assured by the ICC earlier. Its a dream of any cricket player to represent its country in the ICC Cricket World Cup. I hope the Indian authorities clear their visa and they are able to play for their country.

Canada will play two warm up matches before entering the ICC Cricket World Cup. Check the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 Schedule for more details on all the matches of Canada.
