Scores:

North Group: Warwickshire v Lancashire at Birmingham - Jun 19, 2011

Warwickshire 109 (19.2/20 ov);

Lancashire 110/0 (12.3/20 ov)

Lancashire won by 10 wickets (with 45 balls remaining)

This is the second successive defeat for the Warwickshire as they were defeated by Worcestershire on Saturday in a nail-biter.

Batting first, Warwickshire were bowled out for a paltry 109 runs from 19.2 overs as bowlers-friendly conditions made life hell for their batsmen.

England fast bowler Sajid Mahmood captured three wickets for just 13 runs while Stephen Parry grabbed four wickets for only 23 runs to do the massive damage.

The Warwickshire could never recover after their openers Varun Chopra (7 from 7 – 1 four) and Neil Carter (1 from 4) went back into the pavilion.

Ireland captain William Porterfield (12 from 15 – 2 fours), who has been in good form in the Friends Life T20 tournament, also failed to take the responsibility. When Darren Maddy (16 from 13 – 1 four, 1 six) and skipper Jim Troughton (12 from 6 – 2 fours) lost their wickets, it was literally all over for the Warwickshire as they couldn’t use up their full quota of 20 overs and were wrapped up for only 109 runs.

In reply, Stephen Moore (52 not out from 38 – 2 fours, 3 sixes) and Tom Smith (58 not out from 37 – 2 fours, 4 sixes) completed the job in an impounding fashion in just 12.3 overs to hand Lancashire a big victory by all margins.
